Error: The operation was canceled

I keep getting steps jobs failing with errors like Error: The operation was canceled. Is this because spot instances have been killed off?

Do I need to turn on experimental features

• Termination watcher
• Termination notification
• Termination Handler

in order to have the step automatically retried? I am little confused if this is the solution or answer.

Same issue here. I use on-demand instances though, so it's not spot related. I checked logs in Cloudwatch and there is nothing in log groups for the instance. Any other troubleshooting tips? I know before we had an issue where operation was canceled due to resource exhaustion but I updated ec2 size to xlarge which should be overkill for what it does.

I see nothing in syslog as to why either on cloudwatch
