opentelemetry-instrumentation-ws package : actual message payload modification

I've been exploring the capabilities of this package and I'm curious to know whether it modifies the actual message payload with trace spans. Specifically, I'm interested in understanding how the package integrates with WebSocket messages and whether it adds trace information to the payload.
the purpose of usage is to provide the message's receiver with trace information(part of the message similar to http header)
