Different behavior in space or global view when clicking on add button in room list

What would you like to do?

When in the global view, the first item of the menu is start a chat

Whereas in a space it is an invite into the space

Why would you like to do it?

Lot of users, not noticing they are in their space view, will quickly use this menu and think they will start a new private conversation when clicking the first item, but they will only invite the user into the space.

How would you like to achieve it?

Keep the item Start a chat also in the button menu when in a space view

I know there is currently a refacto of the room list via this ticket #29189. It will be nice to take into account this user experience if possible

We're currently focussing on enhancing the overall navigation of the left panel and this includes creating more clarity on structure, content and interactive elements - all with the aim to simplify and ease navigation, structure and access to basic tasks such as creating a new DM/Room, finding the relevant chat etc. There will be new iconography for the composition/creation of new messages too and it will include Start new chat / New room no matter the entry point selected (Space or All rooms ). Regarding the Spaces model, this is heavily being redesigned as we speak and a lot of changes are coming.
