Hermes Llama 3.1 uses XML tags to differentiate thoughts from reflections from solutions, Claude was also pretrained with XML adherance, the start and stop tokens allow us to stream just the solution to the user.

Are we sure that we only want to train the valid chains, and not failure attempts? Does that not mean that it will also be trained to think that it cannot make mistakes? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you meant.

Regarding making mistakes in chains.

1. OpenAI showed that it can recognize mistakes and backtrack
2. Therefore we are going to do the same
3. That means including chains with mistakes that demonstrate backtracking
4. There are also hints that they did this with MCTS, which in the ACE framework project we called this cognitive damping
