Whenever we're working with multi-site setups, we usually want assets to be served off a site-specific domain, so we use additional volumes for assets in different sites. In order to prevent accidentally uploaded to the wrong volume, asset fields should be able to use a different default volume depending on which site is being edited.
I realize this could result in a complex refactor, so I'm open to programmatic approaches as well.
