Store Immich data on synology?

Hi. I have used the helper script to install this on my Proxmox. What I would like to do is to have all the pictures or data stored on my Synology. I feel like I am sort of there, but not totally. Here is my .env file.

These are the mount points inside my config file:

mp0: /mnt/pve/Synology-Data/media/photos,mp=/mnt/photos
mp1: /mnt/pve/Synology-Data/docker/appdata/immich/postgres,mp=/var/lib/postgresql/data
mp2: /mnt/pve/Synology-Data/docker/appdata/immich/redis,mp=/data

What I want is for things to be in my Synology: /volume1/data/media/photos

I've tried asking ChatGPT, and it is just a mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated- even pointing me to the right direction. I'm very new to this self-hosting and Proxmox. I was told to use ChatGPT, but I find it's often wrong. Thanks in advance :)

is your /volume1/data/media/photos mounted to /mnt/pve/Synology-Data/media/photos ?

Not sure I understand the question. I have an NSF mount in proxmox to the root as : volume1/data. I know it works because it works for other things like audiobookshelf which I am hosintgon my proxmox

There is nothing directly to photos... its to data... but data is open to all subfolders.

@MsTekkie First let's make sure that things appear to be setup properly and the immich user in your LXC has write permissions to your mount.

From the Proxmox host console, can you show us the mountpoint for your Synology?

ls -la /mnt/pve/Synology-Data/media/photos

And then from the console in your immich LXC, can you show us the current permissions for the bind mount?

ls -la /mnt/photos

You could also just try to create a file in the mount as the immich user to see if it has write permissions: sudo -u immich touch testfile.

If the result is good, then I suggest you do the following:

1. Make sure Immich is stopped - systemctl stop immich-web immich-ml
2. Edit IMMICH_MEDIA_LOCATION in /opt/immich/.env to reflect your mountpoint location, so in your case it would be IMMICH_MEDIA_LOCATION=/mnt/photos
3. Then delete the symlinks in the following two locations:

rm /opt/immich/app/upload
rm /opt/immich/app/machine-learning/upload

4. Then recreate the symlinks so they point to your mountpoint:

ln -sf /mnt/photos /opt/immich/app/upload
ln -sf /mnt/photos /opt/immich/app/machine-learning/upload

5. Then you might want to simply copy over everything in /opt/immich/upload to your mountpoint.
6. Then restart Immich and tail the immich-web log to see if things worked out.

systemctl start immich-ml immich-web
tail -f /var/log/immich/web.log

I hope this helps, although I don't use NFS for my shares I think it should be the same as it is for SMB.
