My friends and I are also having this problem and it softlocks them because their devices aren't fast enough for them to time the toggle of it after escaping the menu.

I've also encountered the softlock. If a schematic has a crafter, enabling printing makes the mod constantly interact with the crafter, softlocking the game. The only way to fix it is to hit escape twice fast enough that you get the the pause menu, quit the world, then disable printing via the mod settings.
