It works fine locally, but breaks when deployed to GitHub Pages.

Left browser is local view, right one's GitHub Pages—it's messed up.

Got the baseURL in hugo.yaml set right:

Site URL: https://hiforrest.github.io/

I'm a total noob at coding and not really familiar with GitHub or Hugo. Just followed the docs step by step but no idea where things went wrong. Could anyone help me figure out the issue? Thanks in advance!
