Game log

Symptoms

I played only first tutorial mission, however I can confirm that game runs, there are no obvious issues on beggining of the game.

Reproduction

Run a game, play first turorial mission.

The gameplay, menus, etc. all seem to function perfectly based on playing one tutorial mission but I noticed one small flaw: there are some entries under Help & Options -> Don Keystone that I assume are supposed to play some in-game movies. However, they only display a blank screen:
20180927052735_1
The game's page on Wine's AppDB states that the game used to crash or not start at all on old Wine versions unless wmpcodecs or wmp10 were installed. I tried installing these using protontricks but neither of them would install due to Proton using a 64-bit wineprefix: This package (wmp10) does not work on a 64-bit installation. You must use a prefix made with WINEARCH=win32.

Singleplayer works fine.
Multiplayer crashes after joining or creating a lobby
EDIT: it works on proton 5

Also tried it out on my oled deck and certain particle effects such as smoke and debris (from explosions or when the worms die) and fire (from weapons that use fire like the fire punch) are not showing up at all.

Easiest way to test is to play through the first tutorial level of the campaign, you'll get access to a rocket launcher and then the fire punch very quickly.

I was not able to get a log for the multiplayer crash bug as the game doesn't allow for bots (least from what I tried) and I don't got anyone else playing this atm.

Hello @waspennator, looking around a bit, your rendering issue was evaluated at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/11389 and should be resolved in upstream mesa 24.3.0 and SteamOS 3.7.

You don't actually need to start a match for the game to crash. I attached a log of the game crashing on proton hotfix when trying to create a player match and a log of the game not crashing when doing the same on proton 5.13-6

Hello @Sxigames, there's several years worth of changes between Proton 5.13 and the current iteration of Proton Hotfix. Please test the easily accessible versions in between and note the nearest versions that have a change in behavior.

Every version starting from 6 freezes when trying to create/join a player match or trying to rename your worms. Tried playing singleplayer on proton 9.0-4 and it starts the campaign fine, haven't gone too far into it as I mainly play multiplayer, so my only purpose was testing.

All these logs follow the same steps:

  1. Start the game
  2. Start a player match
