Symptoms

Game crashes at loading screen and is unplayable since sometime in April 2024. Prior to this it was completely playable.

Reproduction

Start the game. Notice it crashes on the loading screen.

@nightsky30 Can you please check that shader caching is turned on with your device? I found that the crash only happens when a transcoded_video.foz file is not in the shader cache directory of the game. With Proton 9.0-3, as well as experimental-9.0-20241111 it works well when there is a transcoded_video.foz.

That fixes it! Thank you!

Is it necessary to keep shader caching enabled? Can we somehow take advantage of the trans-coded videos without enabling shader caching, or are those two things tangentially related?
