Updating/Parallel Releases

Hi, I have a question with respect to Winpython not getting updated.
The issue was closed as expected behavior, but it seems like, even neglecting the parallel release aspect, the current version does not correspond to the up-to-date version:
Current (3.12) version on https://winpython.github.io/: 3.12.10.0
Current (3.12) version in scoop: 3.12.4.1

Note that 3.12.4.1 is from June 22nd, 2024. there have been 4 more official releases since then (in the 3.12 train).

Another question with respect to parallel releases: If one sticks to an older version (3.12), even though a newer one (3.13) is available, when does an update happen there? Shouldn't one then maybe have something like winpython3_12 and keep winpython on the latest version?

I may have missed something at the time, the checkver of manifest is outdated. I don't use the bundle package, is there anything else should be update? I mean bin(shim), shortcuts etc.

Thanks! With respect to using the latest version: Is the issue mainly that the regex doesn't find the latest version and that cannot be easily overcome, or is it a policy decision? Otherwise I would open an issue for winpython to have the latest somewhere more easily parsable.

Hm, that is indeed suggestive that 3.13. is pre-alpha, but I think that information is outdated: The post is from Feb 19, 2024, with the corresponding release being here. In there, 3.13 is indeed marked with an appended 'a' (I think they use 'a' for alpha and 'b' for beta). However, there have been a lot of releases since then, and at least since WinPython 2024-05 final the 3.13. version is no longer marked with an 'a' or 'b'. Also, python itself (or here) states that 3.13. is the latest stable release since 2024-10-07.

I don't really know how they are distributed. Maybe some of sub-packages were not aligned with 3.13 in earlier versions?

Personally, I am using python 3.12 now (i.e. latest security fixes version, https://devguide.python.org/versions/)
