Description of sensor model with issue: Retrofitted single spring dendrometer with 3d printed spring holder and old 1040 pelican case
Client with issue: Biosphere
Device Name: Bio8
Description of error or issue that occurred:
Sensor was in good working order, battery was charged, reporting through wifi was good, then alignment LED was not responding with red/yellow/green indicators when button was pressed. MongoDB Data shows that the sensor was still taking measurements but the LED was still not responding, no reported moisture damage inside case when client was asked to check, restarting the device did not resolve the issue.
Description/list of what could be causing this issue:
LED is broken
Button is broken
Something wrong with software
Description of steps taken to resolve them:
The LED and button were removed and tested after the client shipped the sensor back to the lab, after testing it was found that the button was functional but the LED had gone bad. After replacing the LED and a week of running the sensor in the lab, the LED seems to be responding as intended.
Fixed or still ongoing? Possible solutions to prevent this on future models.
Problem fixed and tested, sensor shipped back on 2/22/25
Researching why LEDs might go bad, exploring other LED options if this continues in the future
