Default Camera Image Fuzzy

On my PI5 running ubuntu server I downloaded and built the latest motion.
Its up and running and I can view my camera and it looks good.
However if I make it the default camera and go to motion the camera image is fuzzy/grainy . If I go to the console and pick the camera it looks normal .
What am I doing wrong ?

Motion could be scaling it down/up and that causes the poor view. Specify the log level as 7 and review the log output for items noting resolution either in the height/width and/or in the webcontrol and stream sections.

The attached log stopped before the Motion home page was opened. Try to get a new log that has run beyond the time when the web page opens. i.e. Start motion, open the web page with the poor resolution and then go back to the terminal to read/get the whole log.

Try to change the scale values. The value is a percentage so this is scaling the image to 25% of the original. I think the message regarding scaling may be at the DBG level(8) rather than the INF level(7) so if you change the log level even further it should indicate what is occurring.

I changed the stream_preview_scale to 100 and stream_preview_method to 4 and it seems to behave like I wanted .
What 'I wanted' was to create a shortcut on my phone that displays the image without having to click through menus
