Problem description

No support for Steam library.

Feature description

Would be really a killer feature if Heroic Games Launcher would have some support for the Steam library, perhaps via steamcmd or something similar?

User would have to provide API key though.

My question is:

  • are there plans for implementing this?
  • if yes, what are the obstacles (time obviously I think) and is it on a to do list or something?

Alternatives

No response

Additional information

Not sure if it was already requested by someone else, but did not find anything in discussions or issue tracker.

We are not planning to do that anytime soon. The stores we currently support are still not 100% functional and there are other stores that don't have linux native clients and we'll probably prioritize those before adding steam support (since it already has native official linux support).

It was requested, but it's probably the last store we would add to Heroic (unless someone is willing to implement everything that is needed to support it, but we'd still be doing something with less features than the official client).

One of these tools could probably be used as the "backend":

As a reference, GOG Galaxy 2.0 Steam integration can be used
