Checkpoints not loaded automatically

I am running ComfyUI "on its own environment" - i.e. no condas, if that makes a differeence..
I followed thee steps and I think the custom nodes needed for the "SanaV1" workflow (example) were installed correctly - or at least queueing doesn't result in any "missing nodes" related prompts.. But it complaints that I don't have the checkpoint (or VAE) needed. Some step I missed?
