live boot usb?

ok, so Ive been trying to get DS installed and operational for a bit now and i never can get it to fully install. is it because i run Kali live USB w persistence instead of a true install of Kali on PC? i ask this because of the need for a terminal reboot after installing rust i cant do it in live without starting the whole pc or can i ? this is where i get stuck thanks for your time i know its not cheap
