# 注音IVS字型規格 Bopomofo IVS Font Specification

本規格試圖制定一個新的注音字型規格，取代傳統以多個字型檔來選擇破音的注音字型方案。

## 傳統多字型檔方式的缺點

傳統注音字型選擇破音字的方法，是拆分多個字型，例如「XX注音楷體一」、「XX注音楷體二」、「XX注音楷體三」…等。這種方式會有這些缺點：

* 同一篇文章是一堆不同字型組合的結果，想要更換字型時，所有破音都得重選。

* 為了不要產生過多字型檔，能收錄的破音數有限。一般頂多收錄到5個讀音。

* 即使如此字型檔還是很多，字型列表就被一堆注音字型佔滿。

## 本規格採用的方式

本規格採用IVS與GSUB兩種技術，以單一字型檔來支援注音字型的多音字選擇。

原則上主要推薦使用IVS方式（Office與Adobe軟體都支援 ），GSUB方式則是為了相容較舊版本的Adobe軟體。

雖然IVS是制定供漢字圈使用，實務上幾乎只有日本在使用。

本規格借用IVS技術，在漢字的後方加上「異體字選擇子」，去選擇不同的破音。

舉例來說，「會」字(U+6703)本身會顯示預設的第一讀音「ㄏㄨㄟˋ」，當「會」字後方跟著異體字選擇子U+E01E1時，則會顯示第二讀音「ㄎㄨㄞˋ」。跟著U+E01E2時，則會顯示第三讀音「ㄏㄨㄟˇ」，以下類推。所以可以將所有的破音收錄在同一個字型檔裡面。
