BHoM Units conventions

This page describes the Units conventions for the BHoM.

General philosophy

The BHoM framework strives to adhere as much as possible to the conventions of the SI system.

When some units (derived or not) are not explicitly covered by this Wiki page, it is generally safe to assume that measures expressed in SI units will not be converted by the BHoM.

Forces and constraints

For conventions on forces and constraints directions, see this page.

Forces

All forces in the BHoM are in SI units. That is:

• Newtons [N] for forces
• Newton meters [Nm] for moments

Constraints

• Spring constraints are in [N/m].
• Rotational constraints are in [Nm/rad].
