VPN causes sync to block visual update on each action

Expected

App should work as usual either with or without VPN as it did a couple of weeks ago.

Observed

Each sync-able action does not initiate a visual update till sync finishes. Like start typing / deleting / pasting notes, causes the editor to not update after the first letter or react on further actions after pasting content, for few seconds.

You can navigate between notes through the side bar though.

After sync completes all the actions get the desired result one after the other.

Using split tunneling also does not affect the problem. Am using Mulvad VPN and usually Thailand or Singapore as servers.

Reproduced

Case 1: Typing

1. Turn on the VPN
2. Start typing
3. Editor only shows the first letter typed and seemingly freezes till sync ends
4. After sync ends, all typed characters appear.

Case 2: Deleting

1. Turn on the VPN
2. Start deleting text
3. Editor only deletes the first letter deleted and seemingly freezes till sync ends
4. After sync ends, all deleted characters disappear.

Case 3: Pasting

1. Turn on the VPN
2. Paste text and then start typing / deleting
3. Editor does not react to any input after pasting text till sync ends.

Where did you see the bug

It started to happen since a couple of weeks ago.

• System: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 64GB RAM, Nvidia 3070Ti, 50Mbps FTTH Connection
• OS: Windows 11
• OS version: 24H2
• Simplenote app version: 2.23.2
